Brahmagiri Trek Details

The Brahmagiri trek begins from the stunning Irupu Falls. The trekking trail has a blend of lush green grasslands and an interesting terrain. Through the pretty hiking trail, trekkers will pass through falls, field, grasslands and thick forests. If you’re lucky you might get the chance to spot a wild bison or an elephant from afar. For a closer look at the animals, you might want to take a detour and head into the sanctuary.


From Brahmagiri peak, admire the gorgeous, colorful valley and the gushing falls. You’ll also get to watch the sunset from the summit. Climbing back to base can be a bit of a challenge, so you will have to be careful.

The Brahmagiri trek is a blend of easy to pass through routes and steep slopes, with a mix of forests and grasslands along the way. Overall, the trek is moderately difficult.

How to get to Brahmagiri:

1. The journey to Brahmagiri from Bangalore is a 300 kilometer drive, the distance can be covered in around 4 hours. There’s plenty of parking available at the foothill of Brahmagiri.

2. There is a KSRTC bus from Kempegowda bus station to Srimangala. For the remaining 10 kilometer journey, hail a taxi from the bus stop.

3. Private cabs can be hailed from Majestic Bus Stop in Bangalore. Payment needs to be negotiated prior to boarding the cab with the driver.

Brahmagiri Weather Conditions:

1. Brahmagiri witnesses the monsoon during the months of June to August.

2. Winters are chilly and cold. The winter in Brahmagiri is from October to March.

3. Summer begins in March and last till May.

The Brahmagiri Trek Route:

1. The trek to Brahmagiri Peak starts at Irupu Falls.

2. You will first come across forests and as you go up you reach Shola Grasslands.

3. On the trek there are is a small section that has a steep valley and hillocks.

4. Midway through the trek there are two trails, one leads to Brahmagiri Peak and the other to Pakshipathalam.

Best time for Brahmagiri trek:

The best time to trek on Brahmagiri Hill is post the monsoon. This is generally between the months of September and October. The valley and plains look green because of the monsoon rains and the weather is cool.

Brahmagiri Trek Itinerary: Two Day

Day 0
1. The bus leaves Bangalore at 10 pm to pick up passengers at stops along the way.

Day 1

2. Reach the campsite at 5 am.
3. Take a quick rest and have breakfast at 8 am.
4. Start trekking to Brahmagiri Peak at 9 am.
5. Reach the summit by 1 pm and have a packed lunch.
6. Relax, enjoy the landscape views and click a few photographs of nature.
7. Descent from the peak by 2 pm.
8. Reach the base by 6pm, have snacks and tea.
9. Head back to the campsite.
10. Enjoy a few outdoor games.
11. Have dinner by 9 pm and call it a night.

Day 2

12. Wake up by 7 am, freshen up and have breakfast.
13. Leave for Nagarhole to enjoy a Safari Tour, there is also the opportunity to go rafting.
14. Get back to the hotel and then depart for Bangalore.
