The locale is known for the large and numerous amount of elephants that are spotted, not only in the Elephant Corridor. The tall tree's provide a shady canopy to walk under, along with the variety of flora that creeps up these trees. In Tamil it is known as" Paccha Kumachi" meaning "Green Peaks", referring to how the clouds cover the thick green foliage on the peaks of these mountains.
