Located around 130km from Mumbai and 120km from Pune, this picturesque village is nothing less than a paradise for the adventure seekers and nature lovers. Kolad abounds in scenic beauty and a wide range of enthralling activities. It has pleasant weather all through the year, However monsoon is considered as the best time to visit this wonderful village as the waterfalls come to life during this season.

Kolad is among the best destinations for white water rafting in Maharashtra. Kundalika river is one of the main attractions of Kolad and is the only place where rafting happens all through the year. Besides river rafting, there are lots of other adventure activities like river zip line crossing, kayaking and canoeing. Riding ATVs, paragliding, rock climbing, rappelling, mountain biking and waterfall rappelling are some of the activities that only extremely passionate adventure seekers opt for.

Some other attractions in or around Kolad include the Kuda caves, Tamhini falls and Bhira dam are some more places to visit. Kuda caves are group of 13 Buddhist caves which form a part of the Janjira Hills. Many sculptures, paintings, inscriptions and Stupas of Lord Buddha can be found here.

Bhima Dam is also known as the Tata Power house Dam, as it was built by Tata Power Company. It is the major source of water for the Kundalika River which is popular for water rafting. Tamhini waterfalls are popularly known as the Valse and are one of the popular attractions of Kolad. The Kansai Waterfalls and hot springs at Uddhar are situated near this falls. Some other places that you must visit include Ghosala fort, Tala Fort, Gaimukh, Sutarwadi lake and others.

How To Reach

The easiest way to reach Kolad is via road. The Murud and Khandala bus stations are the nearest bus stop to Kolad.

The nearest airport to Kolad is Nanded airport. One can get taxi from the airport to the destination.
