It was indeed an exquisite idea to spend the weekend away from the city surrounded in the aroma of a winery offering an excellent wine tour – A visit to The Grover Vineyards proved to be awesome! Grover is the country’s first winemaker started by an Indian business man in collaboration with a French winemaker back in 1998.  Located at Doddaballapura near Devanahalli Road, Grover offers best-in-class wine-tasting experience to its visitors. When we reached the aroma of wine welcomed us.

One gets a tangible experience of wine-making process through tailored wine tour by walking through the vineyards, learning about wine-making and also taste wine paired with cheese & crackers.  The most interesting part of it all is listening to the stories on wine-making that would make one picture an authentic winery in Italy. The grape fields of this vineyard provide ultimate wine touring, where one can get educated about wine cultivation. The scenic view of the long fields for grapes cultivation makes this a must visit place in Bangalore.

The tour begins at the winery, where there is a short history of cultivation and wine. Then step outdoors for a leisurely stroll around the picturesque surroundings of vineyards and also photo-ops.  Followed by an information session about the grinding, filtering, processing and packaging at the wine cellar. The final stop is at barrel room where one can enjoy five varieties of wine in a complementing environment that adds more taste to the wine tasting. It was a lovely day to take a walk around the winery and buy a few bottles of wine of different flavors. Their extraordinary ability to produce wines that are soft, lavish and unique has helped to promote the vineyards and achieve the wine industry pinnacle.

In Grover Vineyards, among many others, we selected Cabarnet Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier to taste.  The field tour of Grover provides an extremely pleasant sightseeing experience while one learns about the grapes farming. One can have a relaxing day enjoying different varieties of wines it offers - Red, White or Rose flavors. One need not be a wine enthusiast to enjoy the distinct experience, to involve in the beautiful surroundings as much as tasting the wine. If you are looking for a pleasant environment for a weekend getaway, Grover Vineyards is a great destination that would fascinate you with stories of the winery and mesmerising aroma of wines.
