The Ballalarayana Durga fort in Chikamagalur was constructed by the wife of Veera Ballala l who was the king of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century. It is situated atop a hill that is 1509 metres high, the fort overlooks the town of Sunkasaale. The fort though has lost its glory, stands as a distant reminder of its beautiful past. Apart from its historical significance the Ballalarayana Durga fort is a fantastic trekking destination.

Nagalapuram is a small historical town located in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh located about 280 kms from Bangalore. People visit Nagalapuram for Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple and/ or the Nagalapuram falls trekking. Nagalapuram Falls offers a lovely day trek which usually takes about 2 to 2.5 hours amongst natural shade and rocky terrain. Several ponds and smaller falls (one which offers fish spa) on the way to the main falls are good spots to take a break. The main waterfall has a big pool almost 40 feet deep with crystal clear water that’s great for experienced swimmers. A visit to Kone falls and the temple is part of the package.
