When I first read the event details, I thought I would give it a miss. I wasn’t ready for another round of canopies displaying the same old restaurant food. Boy was I wrong!

With much apprehension, I entered the Dublin Square in Phoenix Market City Mall, and I was surprised for sure. As the name suggests, the Grub Fest stood for what it is meant to be. Though relatively small in comparison to its original self which takes place in Delhi every year, its debut in Mumbai was to go for. The organizing team member Akshay Naravane gave me a brief about the fest and helped me understand its background. The fest is sponsored every year by Maruti Suzuki in collaboration with Yes Bank. When Christmas is around the corner, especially on a weekend, sumptuous food is hard to miss. I chose to be there in the afternoon when it is not too crowded and that’s the best time to visit each stall and take your own time to buy food. From prawn dumplings to chicken, from healthy food to Italian twist; there was something for everyone. Restaurants presented their well curated menu for the fest and to give the audience a variety.  For those who have a sweet tooth, there were plenty of chocolates and cakes available. I too bought a packet of Florintines for my friends. There were plenty others to delight me as well.

The chefs gave live demos of their recipes and took the evening forward with food enthusiasts all around. The three-day event had music, food, and comedy. I always cherish a live comedy session and Vaibhav Sethia was just amazing. Others included Navin Noronha & Siddhartha Dudeja on the other days. With a photo booth at one corner and a bar at the other, the whole square screamed of the festive aura. I strolled from one shop to the other tasting desserts, waffles, brownies, and lots more. Do not miss the biscotti from Glee Chocolates.

Later the performances by various new artiste including Raghav Meattle, BassHunk, ADGRMS, Myris and more kept the crowd grooving as the night progressed.  As I proceeded to leave the fest, I was tempted to buy some more. For me, Christmas in not complete without a Plum cake and so I gave in to the temptation and bought one for myself.

I will once again make the most of it when the Grub returns to my city in 2017. How about you?
