Treks to venture near Bangalore in Spring 2016

The greatest escape of all times from a city life, is definitely into the wild and on the hills. Not to mention, the amount the impeccable sense of 'awe' you're in for while treading on the hills, catching glimpses of nature at its best! Here are a few treks you can plan your quick weekend escapes to.

1. Savandurga Night Trek

A trek up one of the highest monoliths of Asia proves even better on a night trek. At an altitude close to 4022 ft, Savandurga has some of the best trekking experience to offer. Camping at the top of the hill and catching up on a sunrise will beat city lights and party scenes to the ground in no time.

2. Anthargange Day Trek

Trekking along Anthargange is in fact one of the most interesting things you could do on a trek and we’ll tell you why. The trek is of a total 4 kms but one gets to explore old caves along the way up. These caves were formed out of volcanic rocks and boulders. Fun adventure activities like rappelling can also be done.

3. Kopatty, Coorg

Among the weekend escapes of 2 day trek in Karnataka is the splendid Kopatty trek in Coorg. While the journey from Bangalore takes up an overnight, the ample time during the trek is one of the best things to look forward to. The trip also lets you in on the beautiful lifestyle of hill-villages in Coorg, the coffee plantations and more. Day 2 lets you explore the Dubare elephant camp and more fun activities in Coorg.

4. Kudremukh Trek, Chikmagalur

Kudremukh is a 2 day trek near Chikmagalur. Along with the beautiful hill terrains and small stream-crossing along the trek, you will also get to spot some wild hogs and bison along the way. Though it isn’t possible to camp at the peak, you get to camp at the base and catch up on some great views and a splendid time of being surrounded by the unmanned nature.

5. Ramnagara Night Trek

Not very far from Bangalore is one of the frequently trekked yet gives a trekker a rejuvenating trekking experience every time. Just about 55 kms away from the bustling city is Ramnagara. The boulders dot an amazing topography for this place. Steep parts of the hill is quite a challenge but the gentle ascend makes it less complicated.

6. Makalidurga Trek

Makalidurga is about 60 Kms from Bangalore. The trek up is about 7 kilometres. At an altitude of about 4,460 ft and stunning views, there can’t be a better escape for you. Do not miss out on the view of the Makalidurga overlooking the River Hillock as you get there.
