An Evening with Sakht Launda: Zakir Khan
Delhi’s own sakht launda, Zakir Khan performed recently in the capital at Siri Fort Auditorium, at a sold out show Red Live with Zakir Khan. It was a dream come true for the comedian to perform in a sold out show in Delhi’s renowned and biggest auditorium.
Zakir has worked with TVF (Chindi Crime Patrol) and AIB (On air with AIB), the 2 most popular Indian YouTube channels and rose to fame with his video on Delhi girls that he had posted a couple of months ago on YouTube. It was a big boost for him and since then he has not looked back and is gaining more popularity as weeks go by. His video has crossed 2 million views on YouTube.
Zakir Khan won Comedy Central’s hunt for Best Stand-Up Comic of India which made him a budding stand-up comic following which he also won Foster’s LOL evenings. Along with being a stand-up comedian, he is also a writer by profession. His rustic humour will make you relate every bit of it from your personal life.
Unlike the other English comics, he performs his gig mostly in Hindi; yet he’s getting an amazing response from the youth who attend English stand-up. He does observational comedy and not makes satires or jokes on politics or religion.
Zakir’s gig in Siri Fort had 3 sections with ticket pricing done accordingly, the middle front section was the most pricey one with tickets priced at Rs. 1000 and side front sections were sold at Rs 750 per ticket and the back section at Rs 500 per ticket. The show was opened by RedFM’s RJ Ashish and he got the audience warmed up for a comedy session. Nishant Tanwar (a Hinglish stand-up comedian) was 2nd on stage and the first comedian to start the night with his insult comedy and made jokes on the audience.
Finally Zakir took the stage, everyone was so cheered up to finally see him and the crowd went berserk. The comedian's heartfelt happiness was shown in his honest smile when he saw the audience. He kicked off with his famous ‘sakhti’ dialogue. He filled the next hilarious hour with hearty humour making jokes on his relationship with his girlfriend. Khan's act led to roaring laughter in the audience at the Siri Fort auditorium, as he delivered humour-filled punches.
Zakir started the 9 city tour from Delhi with a Sold Out show and is expected to ride the high-wave across all the other cities as well.
His next performance First/Cut is at anti-Social, New Delhi on 7th October 2016, 9PM.
