An amazing trekking peak at an elevation of 4650m has proven itself a magnificent experience for the adventure seekers. Being a peak, which is the strongest structure in any mountain range Mt. Pangarchula offers an unforgettable experience to those who attempts to scale it. It is situated in Garhwal region in state of Uttarakhand and from top of the mountain one can get a 360-degree view of breath-taking Garhwal Himalayas, which includes peaks like Mt. Dunagiri, Mt. Kamet, Mt. Chaukhamba, and many more. The trail is snow covered for the most part of the year and it is a combination of walk through the villages, forests, meadows, and moraines.
Day-1. Haridwar to Joshimath
After meeting at Haridwar in the morning at the given time our journey will go via rishikesh and Devprayag which is confluence of Ganges and Alaknanda river, the whole road is in good condition and goes along the scenic Ganges river rushing down the mountain, stay at guest house at Joshimath. Joshimath is a small town which receives a lot of tourist for being very close to the Hindu pilgrimage of Badrinath.
Day-2. Joshimath to Dhak to Guling (2943m)- 12 km drive and 6 km trek
After breakfast at the guest house we head towards Dhak village which is a 12 km drive and usually takes one hour, from here the trek starts which goes through villages and many local farms an easy ascend, and the whole trail is dominated by the might Mt. Dunagiri on the opposite side. The trail has many constructed resting points and also water sources.
Day-3. Guling(2943m) to Khulara(3225m)- 7 km trek
It’s a trail that is completely inside the tree line and goes through the dense mix forest. Depending on the month of the year, one could find snow on the trail and amazing wildlife as well. The trail is a gradual ascend and could be easy for those with good fitness level. Just before reaching Khulara we move out of the tree line and reach a vast ground where we would camp overnight.
Day-4. Khulara(3225m) to Gelgarh (3678m)- 5 km trek
This is the day of acclimatization for the further climb to the summit of the Pangarchula peak and also this day the trail is over the tree line and gives a perfect view at all time of the Mt. Pangarchula and vast valleys on both sides.
Day-5. Gelgarh(3678m) to Summit(4650m) to Khulara(3225m)- 11 km trek
This is the important day of the journey to the summit and it will start early in the morning and the trail is a gradual ascend in the beginning until you reach the base of the peak which is a huge field of rocks and boulders, again depending on the month of the year it could be snow covered or a open rock field. From there the summit appears closer but it takes a real challenge to reach the top through the narrow ridge which offers a great thrill as it is open faces of the mountain on both sides. After spending the right amount of time over the top depending on the weather conditions you follow the same route to the camp site of Khulara.
Day-6. Khulara to Gurseon Bugyal to Auli and drive to Joshimath- 11 km trek and 2-hour drive
This is the last day of the trail and takes you through an amazing variety of changing scenic beauty ranging from forests, lakes, valleys, and the most important the magnificent view of Mt. Nanda Devi which is the highest peak in India with all faces of mountain within the Indian Borders. Also, the trail ends at the skiing capital of India that is Auli, from here the cab will pick you up to take you to the guest house.
Day-7. Joshimath to Haridwar
We will take the same road that we took while coming up. It may take upto 9 hours reach Haridwar.
