With the overwhelming response we receive each year from the four to five batches we conduct, we will embark once again on this journey into nature; to experience millions of Fireflies swarm the forests.
This season comes and join us to experience a natural phenomenon so unique that it's almost magical, where millions of fireflies swarm the forests around Bhimashankar.
The warm summer temperature makes it perfect for these nocturnal beetles to come out and flash their light to find the perfect mate with responding blinking light signals. Imagine thousands of them lighting up the forest with rice grain size bulbs blinking all around you.
This is a great opportunity for photographers, nature lovers, adventure seekers and travelers to experience blinking stars setting down in the forest.
Minimum age 7 years, no upper age limit, every participant must be willing to trek and hike for at least 2 hours.

Saturday, June 8th 01:00 pm Pick-up from Hotel Blue Nile, MG Road (Travel time approx. 3.5 to 4 hours) 05:00 pm Arrive at base village 05:15 pm Start hiking through the forest and reach the campsite 05:50 - 06:15 pm Freshen up, tea and snacks - Introductions and briefing. 06:00 - 07:00 pm Tent set up and allocations 07:00 - 08:30 pm Get familiar with the wilderness around hike to the nearby hills and forests. 08:30 - 010:00 pm Dinner 10:00 - 01:00 am Get deeper into the forests to locate the fireflies, witness the tantalizing dance of the fireflies that will arrest your attention instantly. 1:30 am - Return to the campsite and EOD.
Hiking is optional at night, you could stay back or return to the campsite at your own will.

Stay: Accommodation is on sharing basis (3 people per tent) A private tent for 2 will be on additional charges. Limited rooms available in case of rains, we will use them as back up.
Campsite features: Bhimashankar is at a height of approximately 3250 feet surrounded by thick dense forest. Declared by the Maharashtra government Bhimashankar is a small wildlife reserve but over the years has given a home to several protected species such as Leopard, Sambhar Deer, Barking deer, Porcupine, Wild boar, Langur, and the State animal of Maharashtra the Malabar giant squirrel often referred as ‘shekru’ in Marathi.
The total area is 131 sq.km and is a part of the Western Ghats (Sahyadri Ranges). This sanctuary was created in 1984 and includes 9 tribal villages.
Clean village toilets, basic yet they are quite a luxury for a wilderness camping trip. Home-cooked healthy food veg Indian thali, safe surroundings, and experienced staff. Camp leaders with precise knowledge of the fireflies' favorable habitat.
How to experience the fireflies sightings: Follow the instructions of the camp leaders for a memorable fireflies experience. We will be hiking through the forest in the evening and night to find these magnificent little creatures, be prepared to walk. If the sightings are further than normal then we would take the bus. Torch and flashlights are imp and must be carried by everyone, however, we will try to avoid them once the fireflies are sighted. Fireflies are sensitive to temperature, noise, and light. Adult fireflies have a notoriously short life span, living for three to five days (long enough to mate and lay eggs) depending on the species or up to two months in the wild. Speaking to each other will be in low volume, Bluetooth speakers must be completely avoided.
Trip Facilities: • Travel and toll: Pick up and drop off from our selected pick up points. • Evening tea and snacks and dinner on day 1 and 1 breakfast on day 2. • Camping in comfortable waterproof tents on sharing basis • Mineral water for drinking throughout the trip, we will provide which you must carry. • Tour guides and camp leaders all along the trip. • Medical assistance if required.

The occurrence of Fireflies is completely a natural phenomenon, the trip is scheduled during the best time of the year to see them, however, one cannot guarantee how many can be seen or if any can be seen at all. We communicate with our local guides regularly to check on the situation. Please take care of all your belongings. Notify us immediately in case of any medical emergency. Anyone found under the influence of alcohol, drugs or narcotics will be requested to leave the trip immediately, without any refund. Adventure camping and outdoor sports/ recreation is purely for nature lovers and not for party groups; we respect nature and do our best to spread the awareness about wilderness preservation. Please observe silence between 11 pm and 6 am to have a pleasant camping experience.
Be sure that you are responsible for your own personal belongings. We like to keep the wildlife wild, please do not litter the forest/ sanctuary and the campsite. Please confirm your registration by making online payments.
Availability is first to come first serve basis. The last day of confirming is 2 days prior to the event date, but please book your seats as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.
