Detailed Itinerary:

Reach Guwahati airport & meet team Junglee at the arrival terminal.

FUN FACT: Guwahati is popularly known as the gateway to the northeast as it connects all the seven sister states to the rest of India.

The drive on NH 40 will lead you away from the bustling capital city of Assam to a cooler and greener Meghalaya. On the way, you will get a glimpse of the beautiful Umiam Lake or Barapani as they locally call it and make a stopover to take pictures if you wish.

We will call it a day in Cherrapunjee also known locally as Sohra.

FUN FACT: Cherrapunjee along with Mawsynram in Meghalaya receives the highest rainfall in the world!

On arrival, you may relax & enjoy the beautiful weather as you get acquainted with the surroundings. After having some hot & tasty local dinner, we can spend the rest of the evening at leisure- gazing at the stars and then slip into our warm & cozy beds.

We gonna need that rest- as the adventure of a lifetime awaits the next day onwards!

We're headed to Tyrna village, which is where the downward trek to Nongriat village begins.

FUN FACT: The trek down to Nongriat village takes exactly 3000 steps! You can actually count if you want :D

Enter Nongriat knowing that it is a tiny, remote village deep inside a valley at Cherrapunjee. Cell phone network is absent or weak at best, and the two accommodation option's available are very basic and far from luxury, yet full of warmth and friendly faces.

As soon you as you reach Nongriat you can put down your minimal baggage (only carry essentials for two days to make the trek easier, leaving the rest of the stuff back at the homestay) and don't let your knees give in, because even if you will be drenched in sweat, you will recover every drop of it when you reach your destination in the afternoon- the Rainbow Falls!

The trekking time one way is approximately 2 hours.

FUN FACT: Sunlight triggers the rainbow at this waterfall as the sun moves towards west, making it an absolutely breathtaking sight!

After swimming at our will and clicking a lot of pictures, we'll come back to chill by the water bodies near the double-decker bridge while getting a FREE fish pedicure! (Trust us, you're badly gonna need it!) Overnight stay at local accommodation.

Wake up early in the morning and after breakfast, proceeds to check out a couple of other unnamed natural pools with our local Guide.

The morning air won't makes you feel tired as we'll start the trek back up to reach by late afternoon to have our lunch.

The upwards trek is quite strenuous, we won't lie. The steps are high and steep, and most travelers feel their legs tremble mid-way up.

Spend a much needed evening of comfort and rest at our comfy homestay and call it a day- we deserve a good night's sleep!

Goodbye to the hosts as we leave early in the morning and head towards Cherrapunjee. The steep climb while returning back to the parking area on well-laid steps will drain you down, you can take some rest in case you get too tired. We shall be visiting the Mighty Nohkalikai Falls.

FUN FACT: Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India!

It is India's tallest plunge waterfall that falls from an altitude of 1,115 ft. the pool of water formed from the falls is somewhat greenish in color. Surrounded by lush green and misty clouds, the waterfall is mostly rainfed.

We'll take you through a secret route to the TOP of India's tallest plunge waterfall. Imagine, just imagine... You... sitting 1115 ft high; at the mouth of one of the most epic and sought-after waterfalls on the planet. How's that sound for a WILD afternoon?

We'll then head to Weisawdong waterfall- a unique triple waterfall! (WHAT?!)

After having lavish dinner at a local restaurant we shall then return back to our accommodation and rest for the night. Its been a long, memorable day!

We'll start our day on a rather lazy note. We're gonna let you soak all the sun you need. We're well aware of the fact that sometimes adventures and trekking tend to exhaust your body, and we need you to be completely rejuvenated for the latter part of this trip because there's so much more lined up!

Post lunch, we'll head to Mawsmai caves- which will BLOW your mind away. The stalagmites and stalactites here have been forming for thousands of years, and it is simply fascinating to observe and walk around these natural creations in the world beneath us!

FUN FACT: Out of the 10 longest and deepest caves in India, 9 are situated in Meghalaya!

And if this still doesn't satisfy your adventurous thirst, we can also take you to a 7 km long caving expedition, completely off the beat! (at an additional cost)

After an early morning checkout and a final goodbye to Cherrapunjee, we'll take a fine drive down to the other side of Meghalaya- Mawlynnong.

A quaint and quiet village with tree houses, a marketplace and scores of bamboo dustbins lining the road, Mawlynnong Village is one of many spotless and sustainable villages in Meghalaya.

FUN FACT: It is best known as Asia's cleanest village!

The onus to keep the village clean lies with every person residing in the village. Locals including little children cleaning the roads, picking up leaves and throwing garbage in the bin is a very common sight. Bamboo garbage bins adorn every nook and corner of the village. Cleanliness isn't a chore here, its an age-old tradition and a way of life!

A couple of hours further on, is the Indo-Bangladesh border town of Dawki. It's a sleepy town famous for its magnificently clear river waters.

FUN FACT: The water is so clear here that one can see straight through to the very bottom of the river bed with their naked eye!! (NOT KIDDING!)

The tiny island by the river serves as an open border and you can see Bangladesh on the other side of a flimsy flag post indicating the border. (We wont blame you for accidentally entering Bangladesh and buying a snack from a local vendor before being scolded by a BSF officer to come back into India!)

BUT we are going to take you beyond this now-touristy town to another sleepier village by the same Umngot river Shnongpodeng!

It's here where you'll get to see the sights you've always seen on Instagram- of boats floating on the crystal clear river water.

We haven't even gotten to the best part yet- We're gonna camp beside the river bed here!!!

We wake up early and have our locally available breakfast and go for a boat ride in the river on a clear day. You can also try your hands on some other watersports activities like kayaking / cliff jumping at ana additional cost.

Further, we head to visit the thrilling Krang Suri falls.

FUN FACT: Krang Suri is blessed with shimmering blue waters and sparkling sunlight. This heady mixture of nature is sometimes known to create a rainbow. it's truly a magical pool in nature's wonderland.

Reach Shillong in the evening and relax. You can just relax in one of the cafes (We have a lotta awesome suggestions!) or explore the local market popularly known as 'Police Bazar'. Rest the whole night at Shillong.

FUN FACT: Shillong is home to Khasis and is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland. Hence, Shillong is also known as 'Scotland of the East'.

Wake up Junglees!!! Enjoy morning breakfast and pack your bags for the return journey to Guwahati. We will come across various viewpoints while going through Meghalaya. We will arrive at Guwahati by afternoon and say goodbye to the northeast. And get back to the mundane city lives! ;(

Until next time then, Junglees! :*
