About Sondai Fort:

Sondai is not a popular or unknown fort, stands approx 6 kms of Karjat overlooking the Karjat-Chauk highway and offers a beautiful view of Morbe Dam, Prabalgad, Irshal, Rajmachi, Songiri forts, and Matheran mountain range. This was used as a watchtower. The base village of Sondewadi stands on a considerable height. There are 2 water cisterns on Machi (at the base of the pinnacle) and steps are carved out of rocks to go on the topmost point where an idol of Sondai Devi stands. Two more water cisterns are on the way and have potable water. Two missing steps in the rock make one to climb a small patch of 15 feet but proper handholds and footsteps are available and that makes it easy even in monsoon. Waverly is another village from where a bit difficult approach to the fort passes through the dense forest. Overall it’s an ideal one day hike for newcomers in the trekking field.

Reviews for Organizer 3.6
Firstly, if you are planning for the monsoon treks around the season, they are gonna be a good experience because the weather is awesome. If you are taking the help of an events organizer, you want them to add to the experience rather than making you feel annoyed even admist the pleasant surroundings. Live before you die is a poor organizer of Kalsubai trek and it is better to avoid them. Both the trek leaders Smit and Kaustubh were lacking in experience of leading a trek. I have done treks previously on my own as well as with event organisers but this one with Live before you die was one of the worst experiences I have had. Both the trek leaders had no value for time and from the start itself were not at all bothered to go as per the plan. We finally left at 7 pm against the plan of 4 pm and it would have been even more late if left up to the organziers. There was even no proper planning to have the size of the group equal to the capacity of bus and last minute adjustments were being made. The same was an issue while return as well. Both the trek leaders failed to help the group in crucial moments of ascent as well as descent during the trek and people were doing it on their own. The trek isn't hard but rain had made the tracks very slippery. I have saved the worst part for last. The trek leaders instead of letting the group sleep the night before in the bus played music throughout with singing and antakshiri which made it more of a picnic and was evident in how some of the people not being able to handle the strain tge next day because of lack of sleep. There are other pointers as well but I guess I would have made myself clear. Please go to Kalsubai trek but not with Live before you die. - by Abishake Koul for Monsoon Special Trek To Mt. Kalsubai organized by Live Before You Die .
