Kedarkantha Trek is one of the classic gems of winter treks in the Himalayas. When it comes to trekking in India in winter, the Kedarkantha trek might be your best bet. With falling winter snow its an attractive pictorial view and what's more attractive is the view of the mighty Himalayas from the trails right to the top lying at the altitude of 3,810 meters/ 12,500 feet. This trek is recommended for all adventure souls who like snow and the High Mountains, irrespective of your experience. Beginners are more than welcome to go on this beautiful trek. This trek has beautiful campsites in the Himalayas, where every site is unique in its way and does not match the beauty with any other campsites in the journey.

This summit is effortlessly accessible at any time of the year and offers trekkers a different serene experience in different seasons. In the end, the trail leaves you at the best point of rocky snow included summit from wherein trekkers are rewarded with remarkable 360° birds-eye views of DhaulaDhar ranges and Godly peaks like Swargarohini, Banderpooch, and Black Peak.

Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun

Base Camp: Sankri (10 hrs drive from Dehradun)

ATM: Purola has the last ATM point before your trek begins. 

Brief Itinerary

220 km drive - approx 10 hours

Trekkers will be picked from Dehradun at 6:30 am in a Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle

Expected arrival time at Sankri 5:00 pm 

BSNL network erratic

Day 2: Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab (First Campsite)

Altitude: 6,400 feet to 9,100 feet

4 km trek, approx 5 hours

The trail passes through dense pine forests, maple trees, few streams and finally, opens out to beautiful meadows

Stay in tents

Day 3: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base (Second Campsite)

Altitude: 9,100 feet to 11,250 feet

4 km trek, approx 2.5 hours

Most of today's trail is on a ridge, under oak trees

You will also pass through some meadows where you can spot shepherd log huts

Peaks:- Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag, and Ranglana stand among the others

Stay in tents

Day 4: Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha peak; descend to Hargaon camp

Altitude: 11,250 feet to 12,500 feet to 8,900 feet

6 km trek, approx 7 hours

Spend some time at the summit and descend back to the base camp by noon for lunch

Post lunch, descend to Hargaon

Reach Hargaon by evening

Stay in tents

Day 5: Hargaon camp to Sankri

Altitude: 8,900 feet to 6,400 feet

6 km trek, approx 4 hours

Descend 2500 feet through dense pine forests

Day 6: Departure day (Sankri to Dehradun)

Distance: 220 km drive, approx 10 hours

You will be dropped at Dehradun station in a Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle
On Day 6, you'll reach Dehradun between 6 pm and 7 pm. You can book your travel any time after 8 pm.


All transfers in shared Taxi PICKUP POINTS to DROP POINTS/Dehradun to Sankri & Sankri to Dehradun

Accommodation in tents/GVMN Guesthouses

All vegetarian nutritious meals,{DURING TREK/Base camp to base camp} Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Tea/Snacks & Dinner.
