About Kalsubai Peak

Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra. It is one of the most enjoyable treks. The route is well marked and many trekkers and Pilgrims visit to reach the peak which has a small temple of Kalsubai.

This entire range is amazing from the trekking point of view. Though small in length, this range has some of the tallest peaks and toughest forts. Starting from west to east this range contains Kulang, Madan, Alang forts. The top of the Kalsubai peak gives an excellent view of all these forts.

Kalsubai is the highest peak (Nearly 5400ft.from sea level) of Maharashtra situated in Akola taluka of Ahmednagar district. To reach the summit, various paths are available of which we start ascending from Bari village near Igatpuri. The peak is named after a lady Kalsu, who is believed to have fled from Indori village, saving from the slavery of her employer's cruelty. There is a small temple at the top in memory of her.

During monsoon, this peak offers stunning views of the Sahyadri range & astounding view of Bhandardara. The place where happiness knows no level, your eyes don't blink to behold the beauty of endless mountain range & the breeze hits your cheek because no other mountain stands to the same level. Flowers blossoming in the landscape with a lush green panoramic view make this place one of the most beautiful places in the Western Ghats. The trek route is a mix of easy to ascend slopes and fickle rocky outcrops, Due to which the government has built iron ladders along the vertical hill slopes.
