There really is something magical about Hampi that just cant be described, theres a good reason why this place is very much on the backpacker trail in India.
Perhaps it is the surreal boulder-strewn landscape, interspersed by bright emerald paddy fields, perhaps it is the amazing ruins of temples or the magical stories of myths and legends and gods and goddesses or the surrounding countryside that is almost frozen in time. Perhaps its a combination of all these things that make Hampi so special.
With a history that dates back to the 3rd century B.C., Hampi will leave you in awe of its culture and beauty! So if cycling through ancient ruins, while also jumping in rivers and eating some great food excites you, Hampi is surely the place to be!

04:00 pm: Pack your bags, get all excited because today we commence our journey to the 'ruin-ed' city of Hampi
We reach Hospet in the morning at around 08:00 am after which we quickly make our way to Hampi. We'll check in at our cozy little homestay.
After a hearty breakfast, we'll go on a guided walking tour of the city. We'll conclude the walking tour at the Vitthala temple which has been depicted on the new Rs 50 note. Get your cameras out, we 'bout to take those cliched pictures for the Gram!
We'll explore these ruins with plenty of time in our hands, so that we can make sure we're not missing out on any monument! :) Post that we shall head for famous Coracle Ride. Once done, we'll head to the market in the late afternoon for a yummy lunch.
Now we shall make a way to the Hippie Islands of the Hampi by taking a ferry ride over the Tungabhadra River. After reaching Hippie Islands we shall rent activa's and explore the Hippie Islands and then head to Sanapur Lake. You're free to dive into the water which will surely freshen you up after a long day of exploring.
P.S: YOU CAN TRY OUT YOUR HANDS ON CLIFF JUMPING AS WELL!!!
We shall watch the sunset at Matanga Hills (the highest point of Hampi)-which could be the best sunset you will experience in a long long time. We get an overview of the whole city of ruins from the top!!
We'll call it a day and return to our homestay and get the much needed rest; coz tomorrow's a big day too!!
Wakey wakey, Junglees! Hog on the breakfast today, you're gonna need it because today is the day we get ruin-ed at the city of Hampi! What more? We do that on bicycles!!! YAYYY!
Its all fun and games until we gotta cycle uphill a lil bit, but dont worry; just get off and walk a bit. Nobody's gonna laugh at you :P
We'll take a couple of halts too- for some rejuvenating Nimbu Paani or to get some souvenir shopping done.
There's little to no vehicles on these roads, so probably its all ours :)
We'll head back to the Bazaar area for lunch, and to click some last pictures or explore a bit more. One last time.
Once done, we'll make our way to Hospet by 05:00 pm just in time to catch the bus back home.
We'll reach back home by around 08:00 am in the morning. Goodbyes are hard, but we'll definitely definitely meet again- and backpack to even greater destinations :)
