Belonging to the famous enormous mountain range of Sahyadris of Maharashtra, Nakhind is located in the proximity of Vangani, Maharashtra. Nakhind, this fort is very famous for its naturally formed gap which looks as if it is manmade. After reaching Vangani station by train, commute to Bedisgaon by an auto which will cost approximately 100 Rs. On reaching Waghachi wadi, in an hour, we start the trek and reach the ‘Nedhe’ in two hours.
To reach the highest point of Nakhind, follow a faint trail from the Nedhe and after reaching a 4 m high tricky rock path and from here, then take the exposed route which will guide you to the highest point of Nakhind.
For descend, you need to descend towards the Ashram which you will find on the east route. From the Ashram, proceed towards the ladder to reach Matheran tracks in another 90 minutes. As you reach this point you must take a right from NM156 to reach Dasturi Naka. The duration from the Matheran tracks to Dasturi Naka will be approximately around an hour. After hiring a cab, Neral will be in just twenty minutes. A trek to Nakhin Nedhe – A mountain hole will worth all the efforts and time, hence Nakhind is a must-do for trekkers and trek lovers this monsoon.

You can see many famous hills from the top of Nakhind, such as Matheran, Irshalgad, Kalavantin Durg, Prabalgad, Chanderi, Haji Malang, Badlapur Hill.

About the Place
Nakhind, this trek attracts trekkers for many reasons and one of the reasons being a hollow area on the top which passes through a rock. This medium level trek is just approximately two hours away from Mumbai. Nakhind has “Nedhe” It is also known as ‘Akhind’ which means a hole in the top which makes this treks more interesting and builds curiosity in trekkers. The fort stands approximately 2311feet high and hence providing the trekkers a gigantic view of natural green sheets on the land below.
Slopes with green carpets in the valley and mesmerizing view on both sides are one of the few things that Nakhind offers to its visitors. Similar to Chanderi trek, Nakhind trek is a long approach route to the base and this is where the actual trekking trail begins. The windy atmosphere does grab all the attention and brings you close to nature. What makes this trek more fun and playful is the formation of a waterfall during the monsoon season. This one-day leisure tour will offer challenging paths which a trek lover would easy conquer.
