What is wool? A person, a place, a thing? Or much more?Come join a fascinating exploration with wool in 'Oool', where a performer takes you through a journey in discovering this versatile material along with music, movement, play and madness! As she plays with the material & creates many images, each member of the very young audience may find themselves knitting their own special patterns with colour, lines, shapes and images withwool.Directed by: Sananda MukhopadhyayaPerformed by: Choiti GhoshMusic composed by: Kaizad GherdaProduced by Tram Arts Trust[Originally created under the mentorship of Barbara Kolling (Helios Theatre, Hamm, German), Mentorship programme hosted by Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust, New Delhi.ABOUT MATERIAL THEATREKeeping the chosen material (in this case wool) in the centre of the performance, material theatre explores the possibilities of artistic creation with ordinary material. The performer always stays behind the material and lets the material 'speak'. Materials of course speak in their own special way - without words and through images. It is a sensorial kind of communication reaching very young children through sight, sound, symbols, senses, breaking down traditional ideas of theatre performances. It pushed cognition through sensorial interpretations, which are as unique as each individual child. This is also the politics of this kind of theatre. It means not only 'using' the material in the artistic work and not always putting the human being in the front. it also means putting the things/world that is around us before us.AGE: 2 - 6 YearsDURATION: 25mins + 10 interaction afterwards
