According to the reports from the Indian Meteorological Department, the weather in 2019 is the most favorable for trekking in the Himalayas. The beauty of every trekking expedition is unique in its nature and form. Sar Pass Trek in Himachal Pradesh is the most popular one amidst the stunning trails of the world. Originating from the famous village of Kasol, which is also known as the backpackers paradise, the trail weaves through dense forests of pine and rhododendrons, lush meadows and rustic hamlets. Leaning a bit towards a moderate level of difficulty, the trek is ideal for fit beginners. The Sar Pass top unveils a panoramic canvas of snow-clad peaks and misty mountain valleys. The Sar Pass trek also holds some of the finest campsites like Min Thatch, Biskeri Thatch and Nagaru in its lush green folds. As daunting as it sounds, the surrounding Himalayan beauty overpowers your fear and fatigue. Experience your heart racing, and soul rejoicing as the little child in you comes shrieking alive! Itching to grab your rucksack and run? Book your seats for the Sar Pass trek today!

Day 01 - Registration and Orientation at Kasol Base Camp

Arrive at the Kasol Base Camp on your own and complete the registration process. The orientation session will be given by the chief organizer in the evening where you will be briefed about the information like rucksack packing, marching/walking technique and general awareness about the trek route. You have the rest of the day for acclimatization and leisure. You can explore the local markets and try out some delicious local cuisine. Post dinner stays in comfortable tents at the Kasol base camp.

Day 02 - Drive to Kasol and Trek to Grahan Village

Distance covered: 9 km

Time: 5-6 hours

Altitude: 7700 feet

Wake up to the beautiful Himalayan sunrise at the Base Camp. Have breakfast and drive to the center of Kasol to start your journey to this little heaven in the Parvati Valley. Your trek starts from Kasol town center and you will be trekking till the beautiful village of Grahan today. The initial part of the trail is easy which will take you through dense pine forests. In a couple of hours, you will be able to cover much of the distance as the trail is easy to climb. After reaching the Grahan Nalah, the trail becomes a little challenging as it is rocky and steep. You will reach the alluring village of Grahan and your campsite will be at the end of this village. The locals say that the Rhododendron petals found in the village can be eaten whole and the syrup can be mixed with water to make a refreshing drink. Also, the honey that the localities prepare is something you should definitely try in Grahan. You will be provided delicious dinner and a campfire to keep yourself warm. Retire for the night in comfortable tents.

Day 03 - Grahan Village to Min Thatch

Distance covered: 10 km

Time: 6-7 hours

Altitude: 11200 feet

Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast with the mighty mountains all around you. Post breakfast start your trek towards the north of the camping ground.  The trail becomes steeper and is exhausting than day one. If you think that you won't be able to carry your backpack for the rest of the trek you can hire a porter for an extra charge from graham village and we would recommend you to take one here as you would not be able to hire a porter after this point. You start your day with the wonderful sunshine, climbing through steep slopes which leads you into the woods. You might experience sudden changes in the weather on your way so keep your ponchos easy to find as it may start raining before you even realize. Soon you will reach Ratapani the most amazing lunch point which will make you forget your tiredness as you witness the breathtaking view of the hills on one side and the valley on the other. As you reach the campsite you will be amazed by the views of the Chanderkhani stretch and other ranges which would help you relieve your mind and regain the energy lost during the trail. Have your dinner and stay overnight at the camps.

Day 04 - Min Thatch to Nagaru

On this day, you will trek through the pastoral forest covered with snow as the trail from MingThatch to Nagaru commences. You might have to carry sufficient water with you as you won't get water till you reach Sar Pass. You will face towering peaks and simultaneously feel the force of biting wind that literally pushes you to scale even further. Reach the Nagaru campsite early and today there will be no bonfire as there are no trees around the campsite and we recommend everyone to get in their tents early in the evening and rest as there are strong cold winds flowing outside. Post dinner retires early for the night as you have a long day planned ahead of you.

Day 05 - Nagaru to Biskeri Thatch via Sar Pass

Distance covered: 14 km

Time: 7-8 hours

Altitude: 13800 feet

Wake up very early in the morning and post breakfast start your journey to Biskeri Thatch via the most awaited Sar Pass which will be the highest point of the expedition at a whopping height of 13800 feet. You will be climbing from Nagaru to Sar Pass and then the descend will start. You will be descending through mesmerizing views of the snow-clad mountains around you. While beholding a breathtaking view of the lofty mountains, you can take a sigh of relief and enjoy the lush green scenic beauty that nature beholds. You will have to descend through steep patches of snow and you can wear your poncho and enjoy the amazing slide while descending through such patches. You will also be crossing small freshwater streams formed by the snow melting at the top. Reach the Biskeri Thatch campsite by evening and rest in tents surrounded by huge pine trees.

Day 06 - Biskeri Thatch to Barsheni and Drive to Kasol

Distance covered: 9 km

Time: 5-6 hours

Altitude: 7500 feet

Wake up in the morning and enjoy the picturesque views of Biskeri Thatch. Today will be the last day of your trek and it is time to bid goodbye to the mountains and head back to Kasol. Post breakfast starts trekking downhill through the dense forest, crossing a stream and then reach Pulga. The downhill patch is much easier compared to the rest of the trek and you will witness some spellbind views offered by the thick canopy. The twin village Pulga and Tulga are separated by a stream.
