The Legal Talks conducted by DraftCraft International under the initiative 'Society Matters' are only informative in nature and delivered 'Without Prejudice'. Participants must obtain a legal opinion in writing before relying on any advice or to furnish it as an 'exhibit' or supportive document in a legal process. Legal Talks are held regularly in Mumbai to discuss pertinent issues and laws regarding Cooperative Housing Societies in Maharashtra. The talks are conducted by Solicitor Gajanan Khergamker.
IN FOCUS: Leave and License Issues in Societies* Almost every Cooperative Housing Society has a flat or commercial premises given out in a Leave and License agreement. The issues pertaining to Leave and License agreements are myriad, ranging from mandatory dietary requirements laid down by the licensor or society in question and wholly illegal; police clearance certificates required by law not being provided by licensees to licensors and thereby putting the entire society at risk; and a series of others that affect society members on a daily basis.
* A fresh issue is chosen regularly for discussion, so keep watching this space or follow us on Facebook and Twitter for changes and new topics of discussion.
