Batch 1 19th January to 27th January

Brief itinerary
Day 1: Fly into Leh
This is guaranteed to be a flying experience of a lifetime. Flying over miles and miles of heavily snowed mountains will tell you just why its impossible to reach Ladakh by road in the winters. Take a stroll through the Leh town. Most of the shops are closed in winters

Day 2: Spend in Leh acclimatising.
Visit Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace for a nice acclimatisation hike and prepare your bags to leave for the trek next day

Day 3: Leh Chilling Tilat do (Drive/3-4 hrs & Trek/2 hr)
The roller-coaster ride takes you along the Indus river to the village of Nimu, where the Zanskar converges into Indus. There are many heart-stopping moments as the vehicle negotiates the steep hairpin bends over snow covered road. The road goes past Chilling to Tilad Do. To reach the campsite, one must cross Zanskar.

Day 4: Tilat Do Tibb Cave (Trek 9-10 km. / 4-5 hours)
Today is a long walking session, about 10 km, on the Chadar. The trek leaders from #DGA will give a briefing about the day and tips on how to walk on the Chadar. At places, it might be necessary to wade through ankle deep water, or climb on the cliffs at the side of the river. At Tibb, there is a big cave which is the dwelling of all the porters and trekkers.

Day 5: Tibb Cave Nyerak (Trek 10-11 km. / 7-8 hours)
Walking on the river you cross deep gorges and reach a point where Juniper trees are covered with prayer flags. A few steps away stands the mother-of-all frozen waterfalls a huge instance of suspended animation several feet tall and equally wide.

Day 6: Nyerak Tibb Cave (Trek 10-11 km. / 7-8 hours)
Today you start the return journey and go back to the Tibb cave. If you thought that it was just a matter of retracing your steps back to Chilling, you can think again. The Zanskar River reacts to the slightest change of temperature, and constantly keeps repackaging itself.

Day 7: Tibb Cave Gyalpo (Trek 10-11 km. / 7-8 hours)
Starting from Tibb, go up to Gyalpo today. The high walls of mountains rising from the sides of the river almost look like castle walls. You can see several trails of pug-marks all along the trek

Day 8: GyalpoTilatDoLeh (Trek 4-5 km. / 3 hours)
This is the last day of treading on the Chadar. Once you reach Tilad Do, it is time to say good-bye to the Zanskar and the Zanskaries. Tonight you get to sleep in a warm guest-house again.

Day 9: Departure back home
Today we bid adieu to the group and depart for home with an experience of lifetime and many stories to share.
