Beginner friendly weekend workshops combining art and technology.
Workshop 1 - Creative coding visuals with open Frameworks
Creative coding visuals with open Frameworks This workshop focuses on creating generative media and interactive art with a focus on visuals through creative coding. Participants will understand the basic philosophies of creative coding and gain hands on experience and knowledge of working with the creative coding toolkit, open Frameworks (http:// openframeworks.cc). Aimed at beginners, emphasis will be given on the core principles behind using code for art, in both practical and philosophical fronts, giving the participants a strong base from where they would be able to continue working on their own for developing applications for their own artistic pursuits.
Workshop 2 - Programming sound with Pure Data
Programming sound with Pure Data Focusing on sound, this workshop will dive into digital audio and synthesis, giving the participants a thorough understanding on the basic aspects of sound synthesis and equipping them with the knowledge and tools for translating their own ideas into working instruments for performance and installation activities. Breaking down various synthesis techniques and working within the visual programming language Pure Data (http://puredata.info), participants would be guided step-by-step through the basics of both software and theory.
Both the workshops are aimed at beginners, no prior knowledge is required.
Important Note for the Students
Participants are required to bring their own laptops. For the sound synthesis workshop, participants are required to carry earphones or headphones. They are also welcome to bring any external MIDI gear, however, that is not a requirement and completely optional.
About Workshop Mentor
Sourya Sen/Oblique is an audiovisual artist, creative coder and hardware hacker. His interests lie in generative visuals, hybrid instruments and finding emergent patterns at the intersection of art and technology, chaos and order, and noise and music. Coming from a background in traditional filmmaking and VJing, heʼs currently expanding his practice to explore the intersecting points of behaviour that are away from traditional notions of audiovisual synchronicity, content creation and interaction using a host of tools, platforms and techniques.
