"COURT MARTIAL" A Pathbreaking Sensational Play in Hindi

Directed by Rathna Shekar Reddy

Date: 01st July 2017

Time: 7.30pm

Venue: Lamakaan, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Court Martial is a gripping, engrossing and powerful play written by Swadesh Deepak. It is the story of a recruit Ramchandar who is accused of killing his senior officer and injuring another. Ramchandar's trial brings startling facts into light that questions the norms of society. This Court Martial is presided by war veteran Col. Surat Singh, accustomed to the brutality of life but is left completely unarmed and broken during the course of this trial. Ramchandar's trial is not only a fight for his life but a fight for a bigger truth. A truth that is more important than his own life.

PANCHLIGHT - A Romantic Comedy in Hindi

Written by Phanishwar Nath 'Renu'

Designed and Directed by - Sandeep Sahu

Date - 08th July 2017

Time - 7.30pm

Venue - Phoenix Arena, Hitech City

This fictional story, dating 50 years back, talks about a small village situated in the state of Bihar. The story describes the situation of that period when many small villages in India were still in darkness and had no access to electricity.

The play highlights the effect of modern technology on people who are still reeling under the traditional practices observed in a village. Highlighting this issue, the play exposes a romantic tale of the central characters in the story.

Although a romantic comedy, this play reflects on the conditions of our villages in India, 50 years ago. Despite numerous hurdles and challenges, people never lost faith in their fellow people and supported each other to fight those obstacles.

1) Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

2) Romeo & Juliet

Directed by Nasreen Ishaque

Date - 13th May 2017

Time - 7.30pm

Venue - Phoenix Arena, Lane next to Lemontree Hotel, Hitech City, Hyderabad.

Romeo and Juliet:

This short play is an adaption of Shakespeares classic love saga, Romeo and Juliet, which tells the tragic tale of the two star-crossed lovers, a phrase that was actually coined for this play.

Romeo, belongs to the Montague family, who are sworn enemies with the Capulet family, and they both have a violent history of feuding. During a costume party at the Capulets, Romeo enters masked to see his unrequited love Rosaline, but ends up falling deeply in love with a member of the Capulet family, Juliet, and his love is returned with the same passion.

Can the lovers escape the inevitable fate of despair that looms large upon them or is there a more anti-climactic and a bittersweet twist in store ?

Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves:

This short play is an adaptation of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, which is one of the most popular folk tales included in One Thousand and One Arabian Nights. Ali Baba is a poor woodcutter who chances upon a gang of thieves who

hide their loot inside a cavern in a forest. He observes that they open a boulder blocking the entrance by calling out loud, Open Sesame !. He gives the same invocation at an opportune moment to get inside the cavern, which quickly changes his fortunes.

This act of his though, comes with its fair share of dangers, adventures and unexpected events that make this tale a mystically enchanting ride.
