Lema Labs (Incubated at IIT Madras Incubation Cell) is a company founded by IIT Alumni under the guidance of faculty members of IIT Madras. We are striving to build an ecosystem for emerging technologies by providing support to stakeholders which include student community, educational institutions, and the industry.

What is Machine Learning?

Machine learning is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed. In the past decade, machine learning has given us self-driving cars, practical speech recognition, effective web search, and a vastly improved understanding of the human genome.

Machine learning is so pervasive today that you probably use it dozens of times a day without knowing it. Many researchers also think it is the best way to make progress towards human-level AI.

13 Weeks Training on Machine Learning by Lema Labs @ IIT Madras Research Park

This 13 weeks training on Machine Learning by Lema Labs will help participants to learn from the basics of Machine Learning. This curriculum was developed in association with HyperVerge. At regular intervals, problem statements will be given for the participants to solve and gain more insights into algorithms.


Batch starts on 25th Apr 2020 (Saturday)

Classroom training will be only on Saturdays from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM



Week 1 - Fundamentals of AI & ML, Univariate Linear Regression

Problem: Predicting Housing Prices based on the size of the house using a Gradient Descent Algorithm

Week 2 - Logistics Regression

Problem: Handwritten Digit Recognition using Gradient Descent Algorithm

Week 3 - Multivariate Regression & Evaluation Measures

Problem: Chennai housing price prediction using scikit learn

Week 4 - K Nearest Neighbour 

Regression Problem: Chennai housing price prediction
Classification Problem: T-shirt size Prediction

Week 5 - Naive Bayes

Problem: Building a spam classifier

Week 6 - Decision Tree & Random Forest

Decision Tree Problem: Depending on the weather predicting the possibility of playing cricket

Random Forest Problem: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System

Week 7 - Ensembles

Problem: Diabetics Prediction

Week 8 & 9 - Support Vector Machines

Problem: Solving MNIST dataset

Week 10 - Project 1

Problem: Depending on the weather predicting the possibility of playing cricket

Week 11 - Unsupervised Learning - K Means Algorithm

Problem: Movie Recommendation

Week 12 - Neural Networks

Problem: Solving Fashion MNIST datase

Week 13 - Project

Learning Outcomes:

- Learn Python programming
- Develop a clear understanding of the Mathematical concepts in Machine Learning algorithms

- Become equipped to develop ML Models for real-time Business-use cases
- Gain the practical knowledge needed to quickly and powerfully apply these techniques to new problems

Program Fee

The fee for the program is Rs.25,000/- (inclusive of all taxes) per participant. Should pay Rs.2000 online for registration and the balance to be paid at the venue.

Fee Structure:

Online Registration - Rs.2000/-

1st Installment - Rs.13000/- on 1st day of the batch

2nd Installment - Rs.10000/- after 4 weeks
