What is Svaraj?

In this provocative turn, Aakash Singh Rathore lays bare the ground of Indian political theory and proposes a brand new alternative called 'THIN' SVARAJ.

Why we must decolonize Indian political theory and rescue it from the grip of western theories and historical analysis? Why we can be no more alien to the lived social and political experiences of common people? Why are B. R. Ambedkar's thoughts opposed to the 'thick' Svaraj of M. K. Gandhi, K. C. Bhattacharya and Ramachandra Gandhi?

Friends interested in philosophy, political science, contemporary political theory, South Asian and Indian politics, sociology, modern Indian history, literature and cultural studies, don't miss this talk of the town!

Where: Centre for Comparative Politics and Political Theory, School of International Studies II, Room 349, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi

When: 28th August, Monday, 2:15 pm onwards
