A tour to experience some of North-West Indias lesser-known wildlife. Enjoy drives into the wild to visit the remote grasslands, lakes and marshes of Little Rann of Kutch, home to the endangered Asiatic wild ass. Pack your bags and join into a trip to the Not-so Little Rann of Kutch, where you will explore and photograph its wonders. The vast expanse of this barren cracked land often gleaming with mirages has more surprises to it than what meets the eye. The vast expanse of infinite landscape hosts a large variety of bird and mammal species mainly raptors. The sunrise and the sunset here are those fascinating moments when the golden light reflects upon the enduring wetlands, resulting in lighting up the entire horizon and mesmerizing anyone who experiences this spectacle.
Our primary focus during this tour is to observe & photograph the beautiful landscape, the different species of birds residents and migrants, as well as passage mammals. With wild asses running across the wilderness, this habitat is a paradise. A unique habitat comprising of saline mudflats, marshes, scrubland and large seasonal wetlands, LRK is a haven for avian diversity. We may come across Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, Common Kestrel, Imperial Eagle,
Steppe Eagle, Greater-spotted Eagle and various species of Harriers. There are chances of photographing the rare Hoopoe Lark and other species like Short-eared Owl, Desert Warbler, Greater and Lesser Flamingos, Pelicans, Common Crane, Long-legged Buzzard, Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse, Sand Lark, Sykess Lark and Greater Short-toed Lark. Amongst mammals, other than the wild ass, one may also spot hyenas and desert fox.

DAY 1 (Friday)
Arrive at Ahmedabad airport and we set off for Little Rann of Kutch. We reach by noon. Check-in at the resort. After room allocation and freshening up we will have a small orientation session about the terrain, species and how the next few days will be like. The first safari of the tour will take you to the mesmerizing landscapes of LRK to observe and photograph birds and mammals. As the golden evening light starts to set in we will try to make images of Wild Asses
against the and this is also the time for some raptors activity especially harriers to roost which gives an ideal opportunity to make ground-level images or to just enjoy the red sun setting at the horizon.
.DAY 2 (Saturday)
The day begins early as we prepare ourselves to head to the second safari before the early morning light hits the Rann. We will be scouring vast expanses of Rann to spot and photograph raptors. Early morning is an ideal time to find a raptor on a kill if luck supports. Post safari, back at base we will discuss the outcome, learning and challenges of the previous two safaris. Evening safari will pretty much be like that of the previous safari but with the major change in habitat. We will be going well off 40 kms inside LRK which is altogether a different habitat. Chances of McQueens bustard, Indian courser and desert foxes are high here. Dinner and retire for the night.
DAY 3 (Sunday)
Wake up to the chirping sounds of the birds and the mystic air of the Little Rann of Kutch. Kutch provides an important feeding, breeding and roosting habitat for a large number of birds due to its strategic location on the bird migration route and its connection with the dynamic Gulf of Kutch. The Rann of Kutch can be considered a large eco-tone, a transitional area between marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Today, you will once again get a chance to implement the learning from the last two days in 2 different locations and capture some beautiful frames on your safaris. After returning from the safari, you can exchange experiences of the day with everyone else.
Day concludes after dinner
DAY 4 (Monday)
Early morning wake up and head out for our safari and try to make the most of this last safari of the trip. We may dedicate this safari to observe (and photograph) the thousands of migratory birds and fowls that visit the Rann. Post lunch checks out and heads back to Ahmedabad with amazing memories, experience, stories.
