Coorg was named as the 'Scotland of India' during the time of the British. The beauty of this region is well-preserved albeit the surge of urbanization. Kodavas have been the natives of Kodagu (Coorg) for a long time. They are the warriors and agriculturalists who guard their land and it is the major community in the district till date. They speak 'Kodava Takk' (Kodava Language) which is only known to the people of this region. Kodavas also have a traditional attire which is very unique. Kodavas are into sports, army and various other fields.

One can feel Coorg in the air as the plains of Mysore district rise into verdant cloud-covered hills. A small and picturesque place, Coorg district is a land associated with pristine wilderness, cool climes, and vibrant culture. Pandi curry, open gun ownership, and large hockey tournaments are some of the more common associations one makes with the martial race that inhabits these highlands, but there is much more to this fascinating region.

Coorg is one of the naturally most scenic and rich regions in the country and falls in one of the major biodiversity hotspots of the planet the Western Ghats.

Kudremukh Trek (3rd Aug - 5th Aug)I have been planning for the Kudremukh Trek for a long time. But was very hesitant to do it on my own. There is a limited (50 person) entry for the trek to the Kudremukh and I was not sure about the entry, gates and entry free. Online portals dont have specifics of the details, and the information didnt seem updated. After doing some research, I came across Plan the Unplanned (PTU), and they seemed to be the most reliable. I heard great review from friends and colleagues, so I went ahead and booked Kudremukh Trek for the weekend of 3rd - 5th August. It was a wonderful trip, to say the least. The planning and execution were absolutely on point, and Plan the Unplanned (PTU) exceeded my expectations. Below are some highlights: Very good transportation facility (AC Bus) Stay was arranged at Bella Homestay. Good clean dorm room. Separate rooms for boys and girls. We were 11 guys staying in room. But it was still decently comfortable. Great food at the homestay. Aunty makes some amazing Idllis and Tomato rice :D Permits were taken care before reaching the entry point of the trek, avoiding last minute hassles. (Such a relief) It was relatively easy for experienced hikers but moderate for newbies. But definitely one of the most scenic treks with lots of greenery and gushing water streams on the way. And windows XP theme hills ;) The fellow trekkers were good. Very motivated and great sport. Last but not the least the Trek Leader (Adith, Megha, Deepika, Yash) were awesome. They are very engaging and responsible. Kudremukh trekkers were mostly in contact with Adith & Megha. And they did an awesome job of coordination and I highly recommend them. Will plan my next trip with Plan the Unplanned (PTU) soon. - by Tapash for Kudremukh Monsoon Trek | Plan The Unplanned organized by Plan The Unplanned .
