Culture Chauraha in collaboration with Jashn-E-Qalam brings you a unique art workshop where storytelling performance inspires visual expression.

As people say "WORDS PAINT PICTURES & A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS"

Storytelling & Literature have an innate relationship with the Visual Arts; all these artistic endeavors rely on the unique human ability of imagination. Whether the raw material is mud, clay, paint, wood or words; the underlying desire is to share the seen & unseen. One of the many collateral damages of the digital revolution has been the loss of creative visualization & active listening!

Culture Chauraha brings you a multi-sensory experience by exposing the audience to a Solo Performance of Hindustani Short Story by Jashn-E-Qalam, which will bring alive the written word to create imagined visuals in the mind of the audience. This will be followed by an Art workshop on the medium of Monoprinting, where the audience will draw their most memorable impression.

Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking techniques where the same plate is used to take out multiple prints.

Culture Chauraha brings you an easy and fun way of exploring the world of monoprinting with readily available material to experiment with. This method is something participants can try even later on at their own leisure without any major investment.

Mono printing as a process requires you to work quickly. There's no time for thoughtful tiny details or erasures (not to say, we won't try). Big swoopy movements, quick decisions, textures and use of lots of found objects is what this workshop is going to be all about. Participants will be working on Paper or Canvas.

*Participants will be using this technique to visually depict a number of instances from the story.
