A Music appreciation workshop

Indian Classical Music also is known as Shastriya Sangeet is considered more for the classes and less for the masses. And due to this reason, it appears to be mystifying to the uninitiated. And so this fountainhead of music which dates back to the Vedic period remains unavailable to a lot of people.

Heres a great opportunity to experience and learn about this 3000-year-old music system in a compact and engaging format.

The origins of Indian classical music and its interconnectedness with history is really fascinating.

In this workshop, we look at the history and background of Indian classical music and understand the basics of our music system.

About The Facilitator: Rama Sundar Ranganathan

Rama is a professional Hindustani Classical Musician. She is an A grade All India Radio artist and has performed in multiple platforms in India and abroad.

Having also trained in art at Triveni Kala Sangam Rama uses the mediums of oil, watercolors and ink wash sketching to express herself besides singing. She devotes her time performing and doing workshops for schools and colleges on the subject of classical music with art as her tool.

Rama is an exhibiting artist, a published author of Children's books and also writes a popular blog - Rama's blog is a commentary on music, art, and culture and has been nominated as one in top forty cartoon websites by Feedspot. She also writes for TimesInternet.
