Movement is not just limited to dancing. In this workshop we will explore how it is weaved into our day to day activities and interactions. Focus will be on developing a deeper connection and understanding of our own body. We will go deeper into breaking down activities like walking, sleeping, sitting, standing etc. to discover the smallest intricacies of movement. Trying to find connection and coordination between both sides of our bodies and understanding of rhythms are few among other things that will be explored..
We reside in our physical body and operate throught it. Our bodies are our closest observer and to know our bodies, in a way helps us to build a stronger bond with ourselves. The day to day activities might seem mundane and mechanical but they hold a lot of magic. This is a workshop mainly focused on people who have had no training in dance, however it is open to all. It is exploratory in nature, and aims on creating a nurturing space where we can connect with ourselves.
Priya's focus as an artist is on exploring and understanding various layers and depths of the human mind and body. She says, we live in movement constantly, and what can be a more interesting way of getting to know ourselves much more closely, than exploring our own movements, our own pauses and our own breath.
She has trained in Bharatanatyam from Guru Chitra Chandrasekhar Dasarathy and graduated in Contemporary Movement from Attakkalari Centre of Movement Arts. She works and collaborates across the fields of dance, theatre and visual art
