In Shades of Love: Nayikas of the Mahabharata, we explore love in its SringAra form through the women in the Mahabharata. From Gandhari to Uttara, across generations, all the women in this Mahakavya are beautiful, strong and feisty. Each character has a different emotional journey when their love gets entangled with duty and propriety. This evening, through the exposition of the Ashtanayikas (the eight kinds of heroines in love), we explore the bhavas and rasas of a few Nayikas.

Involving a dancer, a musician, a storyteller, and a researcher, working transnationally, traversing time periods and time zones, this collaboration is a cultural experiment. Join us in developing our ideas and thoughts and deepening our understanding of this Epic. Enjoy a unique evening of words, music, and dance.
