About Anita Reddy
For over four decades, she has touched the lives of many directly and indirectly as a leader on various social initiatives through AVAS (Association for Voluntary Actions and Service), DRIK (Dwaraknath Reddy Institutes for Knowledge) and DWARAKA (Development of Weavers and Rural Artisans for Knowledge and Action) Foundations, which have turned strategies into living reality that poor communities need to improve their lives and socio-economic conditions.
Anita Reddy, a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri, is an activist, social entrepreneur, and an influencer.
In the late 70s, Anita Reddy founded AVAS along with her co-founders to develop and improve housing facilities for the people of Bangalore slums. What started off as an endeavor to improve the lives of slum dwellers, the trust went on to change the space of the poor in several other critical issues.
Lakshmi Ishwar is an educator who has worked as a lecturer in an engineering college and also as a tutor for the British Open University. She was a consultant to NSRCEL, an incubation cell for startups at IIMB. Alumni of IISc, she is on the board of several social organizations like Art Mantram, Ficci Ladies organization, etc. Lakshmi is currently on the Regional YPO gold South Asia board.
