Biomimetic architecture & design seeks solutions in nature, not by replicating the natural forms, but by understanding the rules governing those forms.
An Emerging Field
Biomimetics for architecture and design is emerging in colleges and universities all over the world. The idea of considering nature as a teacher is slowly appealing to a world facing limited resources. Visualization of natural processes is a valuable component in all upcoming design fields.
We often as designers find ourselves inspired by nature and ready to create forms/ structures that are truly innovative in its essence. We find ourselves marveling at the great works of Antonio Gaudi, Frei Otto, and Zaha Hadid but find it tough to explore similar forms and structures.
Build your own
The biomimetics workshop will guide you on this journey of learning and taking inspiration from Nature and re-creating forms, structures, and designs that can be inspired by nature and yet individualistic.
What to Expect from the workshop?
The crux of Parametric Design
Understand the essential concepts to design anything through hands-on & interactive studios.
Learn by doing. Use laser cutting, 3D printing to create & build complex fluid structures.
Exposure to Biomimetics
Be the first to learn an upcoming field of design. Get exposed & explore biomimetic design in India.
Add to Portfolio
The final design output from the design problem will be a good addition to your portfolio.
A deep-dive into using computational software like a rhino to generate complex forms easily.
How do I know if this workshop is for me?
You know this workshop is for you if you are:
Student of Architecture
From the construction Industry

Who is the lead mentor for the Biomimetic Design studio?
Ar. Aman Jain
Aman Jain (MAA, IAAC Barcelona | B.Arch, SPA New Delhi) is an architect, computation & interaction designer. His work on automated drawings is exhibited at the prestigious Arts Santa Monica gallery in Barcelona. He has a working experience of 6 years as an Architect in this field. His current research is an exploration into responsive built environments through creative coding, material exploration, and digital fabrication to create an unprecedented sensorial experience.
What is portfolio addition at the end of the 4-day Studio?
The highlight of the workshop will be the challenging and interactive hands-on Fabrication and design of an installation with the students in the workshop.
What are the learnings I shall walk away with?
Confidence to experiment fluid forms
Understanding the applications of parametric design
