"History tells us what people did, historical fiction helps us imagine how they felt"- Guy Vanderhaeghe

Isn't it second to human nature to ponder on 'what ifs'?
It is that time of the year when we all look back on the "year that was" and wonder with hope about "the year that will be"...
How about looking a little far back in time and wonder how it would have been?

What was it like to live every day, every moment, through the world war? What exactly went through the minds of the great rulers, did they ever felt tired and just craved for peace? How grave the world would have been if the Axis Powers would have won? Or much more musical if Lennon would have lived longer?

Our last theme for the year is - Historical Fiction. Let us get lost in the books which paint the narrative set in the context of a significant era, an event or stories which present alternative history or explore a new perspective on a significant event, personality in the past or simply talk to the characters who will help us feel how was it like to live in certain times.

Let us glimpse through the wonderful time lens created by Tolstoys', Dickens', Atwoods', Chadwicks', Zusaks', and the likes, through their books.
And maybe, just maybe, we will find answers to some of our 'what ifs' or at least we will wonder how the 'present' we live in should be fictionalized when it becomes 'a past'?!

There is no restriction on the genre, geography, or language of these stories. And we would ideally want to discuss all possible, If you feel that there is a story out there that does not fit these labels and is yet worth discussing, bring it along. No book is barred. :)

So, Remember Remember the 8th of December (Sunday) and join us at the Dialogues Cafe Koramangala at 4 pm.

Registrations will be on a first come first serve basis. Walk-ins/spot registrations will be charged 100/- extra.
