'Nostalgia...live again, live again was conceived to provide a platform to the many amateur and semi-professional artistes who took to the stage and made it their own in their early lives but had to step away for a not-so-brief detour. Deep inside the heart of an artiste, the longing for an encore never dies. The thirst to live their stage lives again would settle for nothing but another opportunity to go Live. This is our humble attempt to rekindle the nostalgia of the artistes and their audience, to Live again, by going Live again!
It is widely believed that the period between the mid 50s to the early 80s was the golden era of music in India finding its identity beyond classical forms on the back of largely Hindi and some regional cinema. Characterised by melody and some soul-stirring lyrical poetry, the music was an amalgam of classical music, western influences and the diverse folk culture and music of the Indian people. Teams of composers, singers and song-writers of the era, created everything from timeless classics to adaptations that sounded better than the originals and some experiments that were brave if not popular!
Golden Oldies taps into this mixed treasure of creations, classics to off-beats, some hidden stories and trivia about their creation, with some twists and turns to add flavour. Presented by a group of vintage stage performers vocalists Satish, Gayathri & Murali with flautist and guitarist Arun making their comeback through the Nostalgia...live again, live again platform, the evening promises to take you down memory lane with some feet tapping and lilting tunes of the times!
