About our Featured Poet: Malcolm Carvalho
Malcolm Carvalho is a writer of poetry, fiction, and code. He stumbled into poetry in his late teens when he had a rush of words in his head and saw a blank sheet of paper expectantly looking at him. His early poetic influences were the lyrical Pink Floyd, Creed, and later the surreal Pablo Neruda. Accordingly, his poems have progressed from being cynical to angsty to romantically surreal in that order, or so he thinks.
Almost twenty years on, Malcolm now writes primarily because he likes to write and loves the sound of words. In his poems, he finds an outlet for his musings about Mumbai, the city of his origin, and Bangalore, the place he now calls home. Delving across genres and styles, he has recently been writing poems with social commentary.
Malcolm also performs improv with ICB and is currently writing a sci-fi novel based on one of his short stories. He has published his poetry and fiction in several journals including Muse India, Spark, 365tomorrows and Literary Yard.
