BodyMine investigates the tension between the experience of body as liability and body as abundance.
The current, dominant socio-cultural construction of the body encourages us to experience our bodies as a liability, almost as something that gets in the way of life. Dance performance often contributes to the dominant narrative of the body by elevating and showcasing a certain kind of relationship to the body: one of control towards display. When the body is acknowledged as the fundamental entity/mode through which we engage with the world, there can be a sense of abundance. BodyMine explores the abundance of possibility that the body holds in art and in life.
