Avadhnam is an ancient literary performing art of India. It involves extempore creation of metrical verses on a variety of topics under myriad aesthetic constraints. This art is in many ways the culmination of all that is good and great about Indian Classical literature.
We welcome one and all to experience this unique art-form through the performance of arguably its finest practitioner ever, Shatavadhani Dr. R. Ganesh. Shatavadhani Dr. R. Ganesh is one of those rare personalities in whom scholarship and art have blossomed in equal measure. He is an acknowledged authority on Aesthetics, Classical Indian Dance and Indological Studies.
However, these considerable abilities play second fiddle to his primary powers as a first-rate poet in at least 3 major Indian languages - Sanskrit, Kannada & Telugu. His powers of classical poetry have single-handedly revived the art of Avadhanam and taken it to hitherto unknown heights.
