The word mindfulness is everywhere and it's generating a lot of buzzes. But what is mindfulness? And how can we practice it through our daily activities?
Mindfulness is a process where we learn to be present non-judgmentally in our self and to the different aspects of the self such as the mind or the body. It allows us to observe ourselves at the moment and pay close attention to what we need and want.
When practiced through everyday activities, it helps us disengage from our subconscious programming where our routine is automated and instead experience our moments more consciously thereby making our experiences all the richer. The process is also known to have a number of immediate benefits such as stress relief, lowered anxiety, and disconnecting from all the uncontrollable thoughts in the mind.
Discover and practice mindfulness in its simplest form and through various activities such as freewriting, creative visualization, and art. You'll learn multiple acrylic pour techniques to create an abstract painting that will be a reflection of you and express your inner self. No prior experience required.

About the facilitator: Surekha Sundaram teaches French and has been practicing art in various mediums for the past couple of years. She recently organized an Indian art exhibition in Paris. She is exploring mindfulness techniques through art to promote holistic well-being.
The canvases are 10"*10" or 12 x 12 and will require at least 24 hours to dry, participants can pick their artwork the next day.
