The workshop introduces children to the basics of improvised theatre, improving their ability to think on their toes, interact with each other and be more confident of themselves.
It will briefly cover aspects of character and storytelling and most importantly how to trust their ideas and enjoy what they are doing. It is a four-day workshop where we will take them through the foundation of improv and storytelling, creating scenes and equip them with tools to apply when doing improv.
Improvised Theatre is based on trust, both of yourself and others requires building on the stories of others and supporting them. It is good for flexible and creative thinking as well as collaboration.
The workshop will be conducted by Anvesh and Sahil.
Anvesh fell in love with the art of improv when he accidentally stumbled upon Comedy Central reruns of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'. Since then he tried finding all the improv resources he could, online and offline.
Luckily, he found out about his adopted family 'Improv Comedy Bangalore' at a stand-up show. He did an 8-week intensive workshop with ICB and joined 'The Monkey Project', the first flagship student improv ensemble of ICB.
He was privileged to perform at India's first-ever improv festival 'Bangalore Improv Festival' in 2018. He has shared the stage with some of the improv greats like Jonathan Pitts.
His interest lies in listening to the body and being present to create scenes and also life.
Sahil is a full-time performance artist who studied design and film making at Srishti School of Art and Design, Bangalore. He has been doing improv for 3.5 years, trained with more than 10 improvisers from around the world, directed scripted plays and acted in plays, ads and short films.
Sahil has conducted workshops in creative thinking, improvised theatre, photography and film making to people from ages 6 to 65. At the moment he is working on a feature film script and producing his own music.
