Godai - The 5 Elements (6 hours) Sat, 23rd Nov, 10 am to 5 pm
Godai philosophy comes from Japanese Buddhism and presents the 5 elements and their characteristics. The fifth element called K or "Void" often invokes to connect to the quintessential creative energy of the world. A warrior properly attuned to the Void can sense their surroundings and act without using the mind, and without using their "physical senses". This workshop is inspired by the oriental philosohies and the occidental theories of Lecoq, Decroux and Laban applied on physical improvisation. Using the natural energy from the inside: the impulse, the synergy and the kinethic reaction of our bodys we are going to create a favorable environment to our spirit to express itself without the censure of the mind.
About Ignacio Grinstein
Searching for a way to break with the chronic shyness that persecuted me as a child, I started with theater in 1999 at the age of 15 years old, since then an endless world was discovered before my eyes. I have not stopped studying, researching and trying different things since this moment: theater, clown, masks, circus and acrobatics, physical theater, pantomime, always on the pursuit of finding new and different ways of express and communicate. In 2005 I moved from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Israel, where I live for the last 14 years. Here I found myself again in improvisation walking in a beautiful path that opened me the desire to know more and the closeness with Europe led me to study physical theater and Commedia del'arte in Italy, soak in physical theater courses of techniques such as Lecoq , Laban, Decroux. Delve into the work with masks, from the neutral mask, Balinese, expressive, Trans masks. Develop my clown persona from various types of clowning. and continue working on my performance and improvisation until I had the opportunity to participate in the International Diploma of improvisation at El Bosque University in Bogota, Colombia. I am a fervent believer that words as they say also hide. Those letters creating symbols that are presented to us different from each other and that eventually end up confusing more than they help. the body does not lie. the body is emotion and emotion is body. In the last 2 years, I felt the need to start transmitting everything I had learned and what I believe. merging experiences and knowledge in the transmission of the physical improvisation. I began in Israel teaching children and adults workshops focused on the physical and then, after the diploma in Colombia, I started a tour on Latin America (Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia) teaching workshops of physical improvisation in particular and different ways of storytelling. I speak 4 languages but the one I like the most is the Gibberish and the body language.
