Take up 4 sessions of this class to get introduced to visual arts. Sessions will span across topics as follows:

  • Introduction to the basics of visual arts

    • Dot, line, stroke, shapes, forms, patterns, textures, color, hue, shade, tint, tone.
    • Mediums - Pencil, charcoal, pen, inks, color pencils, pastels, watercolor, poster color

  • Art appreciation - Study of important artists and art movements of the world
  • Nature Study - Exploring textures and colors, observation of proportions, basics of perspective, basics of light and shadow, shading with pencils, rendering in watercolors, pencils, charcoal, pastels, inks
  • Still life - Perspective drawing, understanding textures, in-depth study of light and shadow, pencil shading, watercolor, and pastel rendering
  • Life-study - Basic anatomy, quick sketches and creative compositions of human figures, pencil shading, charcoal, pastels, and inks
  • Portrait study - Structure of the face, features and expressions, eye detail, profile, and different angles, pencil shading, charcoal, pastels, and inks
  • Perspective One-point perspective, two-point perspective, drawing cityscapes, drawing architecture and interiors, three-point perspective, drawing with precision.
  • Typography and Design - Principles of design, creative lettering exercises, poster design, illustration, concepts of visual design, poster colors, fine-liner pens, inks, drawing and tracing with precision.

Participants can choose to study each of these topics in greater detail by renewing their registration beyond the initial 4 sessions.

Class timings:

- Tuesdays 10:30 am - 12 pm

- Thursdays 5:30 pm - 7 pm

- Saturdays 12 pm - 1:30 pm

You can opt to join any 4 sessions from the dates specified in the event. For the first session, bring along a simple 50 pages A4 size sketchbook. The material list required to be brought for subsequent classes will be informed to you in your first class. 

Minimum age to join: 11 years

The facilitator is Chitrakala Parishat alumni with a specialization in Visual arts.
