Dear Friends,We sexual minority community (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders, Queers, Kothis, Hijras, Mangalamukhis, Joggappas , Double Dekker’s and gender queer ) along with our friends and supporters are holding protest in Bengaluru to condemn the police violence and brutality on transgender community members in kerala. On July 2nd, 2016 in Kochi Ernakulam North police station to lodge a complaint against a group people who had allegedly assaulted them. Instead of listening to them and taking the case the police booked them under false cases on Eleven transgenders and brutally beaten two of them had them remanded to judicial custody. Even though Kerala have a transgender policy and have a transgender board. We welcome Supreme Court’s judgment on April 15, 2014 recognizing rights of transgenders and directing central and state governments to protect the rights and take immediate measures for the development of transgenders. The state governments are moving very slow on implementing the judgment, at the same time we would like to appreciate Kerala government which brought transgender policy in Kerala, even though we are very disappointed for the fabricated cases, violence and brutality on transgender community by police. We continue to face many challenges - criminalization by laws, fabricated cases by police, disapproval by families and society...Our struggle continues....Join us in this protest: Town hall, on 8th July 2016, Bangalore @4pm to 6pm.This is your struggle too; this is the struggle to enjoy a life of freedom, equality, justice and dignity.Demands:1. The police who showed his brutality on our transgender community members should immediately dismissed from service and legal action should be taken in them.2. Police should with draw all the cased booked on eleven transgenders3. Kerala Transgender policy should be implemented effectively and immediately.4. Like the Women’s commission, every should form a Transgender Commission and monitory and take up human Rights related violation.Organized by: Karnataka Transgender samithi,Jeeva Karnataka Sexual Minorities Forum, Ondede, Payana, Samara, Samara Rammurthinagara Samara Yeswanthpura, and Samara Jayanagara,Please feel free to contact: Kumar.B 09986653205 and Mallappa 09591540181In SolidarityUma (Umesh)Jeeva
