Neerathon is a Run which is open to people all over Bangalore.
The Wildlife Awareness and Conservation Club (WACC), St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), through this Run, aim to promote and advocate water conservation, which is a prevalent issue in the State.
The word 'Neeru' translates to Water in Kannada which reflects the whole idea behind the Run. Our college has adopted five villages under the UNNATH BHARAT ABHIYAN to develop those villages. All our funds raised will be utilized for water projects in those villages. We strongly believe that the Run would bring a change in the mind-set of youth and the masses. Our contributions might be in monetary form but for a right cause.
With the depleting lakes and drying basins, Bengaluru has a bleak future ahead of it in terms of water availability and thus we feel that it is necessary to educate the youth about the need to adopt efficient ways to conserve and use water.
