Vinayaka chaturthi, Ganesh utsav or Ganesh chaturthi this festival is one of the most awaited festivals of the year . After all it is one the most revered festival for the beloved God Ganesha. Though the whole city wears a festive look, the Pete celebrates the festival with much fervor with Pandals and street processions. Colorful idols of Ganesha- eco friendly or otherwise graze the nooks and corners of the Pete. With the chants of Ganapathi Bappa Morya heard in every street, the diverse communities of Pete come together to celebrate the festival putting up colorful displays in streets and homes. Come with Unhurried this September 15 when communities of Cubbon Pete celebrate the Chaturthi. Join the celebrations and enjoy the special food streets of the Pete that come alive during the night.

This walk was wonderful and I was very happy to have been able to learn about and participate in Ganesh Chathurthi while here in India. Everyone made sure we were well taken care of, even rescheduling the tour according our schedule when the rain turned out to be too much. Would definitely recommend Unhurried to a friend! A big thank to Poornima, Usha and Vidya for such a memorable Janmashtmi Evening.After reading the description of the walk, all the family members (my wife and parents) decided to participate. We were accompanied by entire Unhurried Team and another family from Canada.After visiting the ISKCON temple on this auspicious Evening, we were given a very warm welcome by three Iyengar Brahmin families in their beautiful homes.We really felt blessed after witnessing the beautiful decor of Krishna Mantaps in all the homes. Decorations of baby Krishna in each house were spectacular and mind-boggling. Attention to every detail was given and everything looked so charming. All the Families shared some really interesting stories regarding the heritage collections of their innumerable Krishna Idols.They really made all of us feel a part of their family and especially my parents had a wonderful time interacting with them.We had the good luck of tasting some very authentic sweets, savories and other preparations. They were happy to share the recipes as well.We were enlightened to learn about the Bhakti movement that originated in some parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Unhurried team shared stories about the noble saints, who started and spread this much needed method of God Worship. All the gifts that we received from the families will be cherished forever. We booked the Sultan Tour as a group of 14, which was a bit large for a biking tour of Bangalore. Despite high apprehension among group members about biking in such a congested, chaotic city, the guides were great and we were able to successfully navigate through the street and back alleyways. The combination of walking and biking is a good mix and balance. We were able to see and learn about such a variety of historic places-a highlight being a morning snack at the oldest dosa restaurant in the city (so delicious)! Raghu was a great coordinator (keeping us all in line!) and Usha was super knowledgeable during our walk through Lal Bagh. If you are nervous about biking in this crazy city-you are in good hands!
