Kathalaya presents an evening of Storytelling with Usifu Jalloh from Sierra Leone, Shereen Saif from Dubai and Geeta Ramanujam. Fun for the whole family.

Usifu Jalloh is a highly experienced, talented award-winning performer and educator who has been working in arts education for over 20 years. His roots in multicultural Sierra Leone and his long-standing and close association with artists and audiences from a wide range of cultures have to lead him to develop a storytelling style that encompasses international languages, music, dance and story themes.

He was born in Kamakwie in the Bombali District of northern Sierra Leone. Usifu has a passion for motivating young people to educate themselves within the context of their culture. Along with Storytelling and music, he has established Maambena Fest through the Aruna Jalloh Foundation and National Storytelling Festival in Sierra Leone as the vehicles he uses to accomplish this laudable goal.

Shereen Saif is a Dubai based Indian-born artist with a practice that spans dance, theatre, storytelling, performance art, and creative movement. Her movement vocabulary is deeply rooted in the Indian classical traditions of Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kathak. Her exposure to elements of contemporary dance comes from her association with Caroline Marcade, choreographer and professor at the French National School of Dramatic Arts. As an actor, Shereen believes in an integrated approach that borrows from Eastern and Western schools of thought.

Geeta Ramanujam, besides being an internationally renowned storyteller, is an educator, academician, and administrator. She is the Executive Director of Kathalaya Trust which is the culmination of her vision and wisdom. Geeta uses storytelling as an effective educational and cultural tool in many leading educational institutions in India and abroad.
