Belly dancing is one of the most sensual forms of self-expression. It is empowering, energising, therapeutic and fun!
On 31st March, 11.30 am, join us at The Courtyard to embark on a wonderful journey of learning about your body through dance. In this workshop, find out how belly dance can be an effective way to relieve stress. A lot of stress-related negative emotions become stored along our spine and in the backs of the legs. Spinal articulations of belly dance and balancing exercises help free up the spine and strengthen the supporting muscles. The graceful movements of this dance form utilise muscle groups in the abdomen, pelvis, trunk, spine, and neck, which all help to build a powerful core.
You can take home the short exercises from the workshop ad make a daily physical fitness routine out of it. Belly dancing also improves the sleeping ability of the body and helps your body's natural cycles to function properly. Repetitious swaying, circular and flowing movements are likened to a state of dance-meditation. While a session of slow belly dance movements can induce a state of mental relaxation, the fast ones make for a stimulating cardio-vascular workout. Belly dance also helps alleviate congestion in the pelvic area. Improved circulation to the pelvic area improves and at the same time, the feeling of relaxation alleviates stress.
