Impasto, coming from the Italian word for dough, describes areas of the surface of a painting which are heavily built up with paint layers. Extremely thick paint helps us to create a highly textured canvas where palette knife marks are usually clearly evident the intention is to make the light falling across the painting reflect in a particularly noticeable way.

These beautiful sunflowers are loaded with texture, color and energy. It's inspired by the sunflowers created by one of Brushwork's own artists, Amrita. The overall style of the painting, its composition, painterly brushstrokes and heavy layers, is influenced a lot by Vincent van Gogh. Instead of merely mimicking Van Gogh's style, we've gone a step further and added our own unique sense of aesthetic and more colours thus bringing much liveliness into the work.

Brushworks Art Jam

Brushworks Art Jam

Brushworks brings the artist experience to everyone. Lead by our fabulous Bangalore artist, it's the best way to shake off the dullness of the same old work-traffic-boss-colleagues-chores hamster wheel and give yourself (and a friend?)  a good shot of happiness and creativity.

The best part? You need NO EXPERIENCE. You will be patiently and clearly guided by our talented and professional artist, step-by-step from a blank canvas to the picture you see here. After an easy going two hour session you get bragging rights to a painting that no one will believe you painted.

Hang it on your wall as a reminder of your creative potential, gift it to someone special or lean it on your desk at office and bask in the admiration. Whether you bring your friends or come by yourself, you can be sure that you will meet interesting people from all over the city. Oh, and another thing - just walk in. We'll bring the paints, palette, brushes, canvas and all the necessary art supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of paint do you use?

Acrylic paint.

What size is the canvas?

8 x 10

What is included in the price?

  • One 8" x 10 canvas, all art materials and aprons.
  • A yummy snack & refreshing beverage

What should I wear?

Although we provide aprons, wear something you don't mind getting paint on. For example, white pants are not the best option. Which is such a pity because if you can pull off white pants, by golly, you should wear them just not to our event. Let's face it paint splatters and drips! And once acrylic is on your clothes, it likes to stay there.

Do I have to paint the pre-selected picture?

Yes, its a guided session, so everyone is taken through the steps of painting the same picture. There's room for customization, creativity, and personalization though.
