The Bench is a slow improv format that we heavily work on at ImproVIBE in Greece. We believe in the beauty of taking things slowly on stage. Discovering the little elements that make a difference and can feed our impulses is what trains our observation skills and helps us read our scene partner much better and in much more depth. Ultimately, The Bench trains us to focus on building very strong relationships on stage, that take our scenes to a much deeper and meaningful level. This workshop will do exactly as it says. Take things slowly, so don't expect crazy high energy. Suitable for all levels of experience. A number of participants can vary, as the duration of it.
About Menelaos Prokos
Menelaos Prokos is an improviser based in Athens, Greece. His improv brain, though, developed in Austin, TX. After that, he moved back to his hometown, where he founded ImproVIBE, the country's first improv school, and theater. During the years of ImproVIBE's operation, he's been teaching students, performing shows, training instructors and developing courses for all levels. He is also the producer of Mt Olymprov, Greece's International Improv Festival, that has been running successfully and growing for the past 4 years.
He is heavily involved in applied improvisation, working with companies from all around the world. He spends a good chunk of his year traveling and has taught/performed all over Europe, as well as the USA and Colombia. His teaching primarily focuses on acting natural, adding fun and realism that comes directly from the heart, and pushing the students towards enjoying everything they do on stage. He strongly believes in creating emotional improv with a purpose that goes beyond the quick joke and has an impact, not just for the audience but for the performers as well. When not swimming the improv seas, he spends most of his free time cycling, playing escape room games and cleaning up the mess his dog makes.
About the Bengaluru Improv Festival
The Bengaluru Improv Festival is Indias FIRST and the ONLY Improv festival. Our first edition in November 2018, marked India's entry on the global Improv map with much vigor. India has a thriving Improv potential. After our first successful edition, we aim to keep bringing BIF back with the intention to get all those who practice the art of Improv under one roof. The festival will see international Improv artists, who will collaborate with us to perform and teach their experienced knowledge about art.
