According to Ayurveda, our constitution or 'Prakriti' is determined by three doshas - Vata, Pitta & Kapha. Vata is 'the life force of movement'.
Pitta is 'the life force of digestion or metabolism' and Kapha, 'the life force of lubrication and structure'. We are made up of all three but may have dominant ones we need to balance at various points in time.
