Mike Rosen is on a mission to normalize the less than perfect. He is a mental-health advocate and a spoken word poet based in New York. We're excited to have him back in India and performing for us.

Less than perfect is a spoken word poetry performance about the trials and triumphs of being human. Mike and Rochelle will be performing poems from their spoken word albums.

*MIKE ROSEN*

Mental health advocate and spoken word artist Mike Rosen is on a mission to normalize the less than perfect with his new album Might As Well Dance (Timber Mouse Publishing, 2018). Weaving spoken word with music, MAWD offers a vocabulary for exploring mental health, grief and healing without stigmatization or shame.

In addition to performances at The Whitney Museum, Yale University and across India, Rosen has twice finished in the Top-10 at College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational, was a Grand Slam Finalist at Rustbelt Regional Slam, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Urbana Poetry Slam and Intangible Slam, and was named Best Male Poet at the Wade-Lewis Poetry Slam. The former coach of the Wesleyan University slam team and Events Curator for Atlas Review. Mike’s work has been published in UpWorthy, Write About Now, Button Poetry, Chronogram and Insight.

*ROCHELLE DSILVA*

Rochelle writes about her travels, cultural influences and personal experiences. Her poems give voice to feelings of displacement, love and loss. She curates storytelling experiences and workshops. She has been a part of numerous literary fests and has performed on stages across India, Australia, Malaysia and Nepal. Both her spoken word albums (A Thin Veneer of Coping and Best Apology Face) are available on Bandcamp/iTunes/Spotify.

Her solo collection of poems - When Home Is An Idea, has been widely appreciated as a conduit to talk about identity and belonging . She has recently moved to Goa and can be found sky-gazing in awe. She endorses hugs, and hopes to disappear into the mountains someday.
